| February 9th, 2012 | Janet Fagan - Career Transition and Small Business Coach |
Are you a “SOLO-PRENEUR”? Did you know that the number of Mom-and-Pop and Solo-Owned small businesses (those with no paid employees) has grown to over 17 Million? Many are also part-time businesses with their owners running more than one business at a time.
Certified Coach, Janet Fagan, works in the area of career transition as well as coaching small business owners…not only tackling small day-to-day issues, but also in goal setting and business planning. With a background in assessments, part of a beginning process with these “Solo-Preneurs” is to do some self-assessment work to better understand themselves, mitigate any weak spots and to also emphasize and focus on their strengths and natural preferences. Gaining this knowledge can also help business owners work with various other type personalities and help themto recognize and understand their clients better. As we all know, Socrates’ guiding rule was: “Know Thyself”.
NAWBO women can purchase the Myer’s Briggs test ahead of time for the discounted price of $10 to take before the Feb meeting. Email Janet for more info fagancoach@aol.com.
With an extensive background in psychology and assessments, Janet has worked with and consulted for: Educational Testing Service, Princeton; Caliper Human Resource Strategies, Princeton, as well as the New Jersey Department of Higher Education and New Jersey Department of Labor. In addition to corporate consulting, benchmarking and developing other methodologies to ensure success in talent recruitment / hiring, Janet has an extensive background in career transition, where she served as Career Center Director for several large corporate Outplacement/Career Transition Centers for Right Management Consultants. Janet also consulted with InterviewNow.com in designing online questions/competencies, as a hiring/screening tool, for Fortune 500 companies.
As Adjunct Instructor, Yavapai College, Clarkdale, Janet has taught career skills and life planning courses. She has also served as Affiliate Consultant/E-delivery with the Impact Group, working with may individuals on retooling and starting new careers, many of whom have chosen “Solo-Preneurship” and starting a small business of their own! Janet also has started another niche in her own Solo-Preneur Business and that includes work with the United States Military Veterans, which includes veterans of several years as well as those just returning from deployment and transitioning to civilian life.
One of Janet’s key focal points, whether she is working with individuals in career transition or Small Business Owners (Solo-Preneurs) is the Myers-Briggs Assessment (MBTI). Attending the February NAWBO Program will enable You to participate in a group meeting with Janet where you will have had an opportunity to purchase and complete the assessment before-hand, bring it to the meeting and find out more about you and your natural preferences! So, come join us!
As Sir Frances Bacon notes: “Knowledge is power!”
